Description

 The Wilmington Police Department is offering a free Women’s Self Defense Training.  The course is being taught by female police officers from the Wilmington Police Department.  This training will consist of a series of 3 classes held within a 2-week period. It will focus on teaching females to be aware of their surroundings and recognizing potential threats.  Also, how to respond and react to a physical encounter with an assailant.  The goal of the course is to increase survivability. Please keep an eye on your email, if you get selected to be in the class this is how we will inform you.

Dates: Wednesday, June 12th

            Thursday, June 13th

            Wednesday, June 19th 

Time: 6:00pm-9:00pm 

*** The last day to submit an application is May 24, 2024 ***

Online Application checklist: 

1) Fill out the Criminal History Release form and save it to your computer. Click here. 

2) Fill out the Liability Waiver and save it to your computer. Click here.

3) Click here to fill out the application online.

4) Ensure both forms are attached to the application. 

5) Continue to check you email to confirm submission. 

 Print off application:

1) Click here to print off the Women's Self Defense Application. 

2) Complete the Criminal History Release form and save it to your computer. Click here.

3) Complete the liability waiver and save it to your computer. Click here.

4) Attach the completed Criminal History Release form and application to your email. 

5) Send to arion.wilkins@wilmingtonnc.gov. Please put “private Women's Self Defense application” on subject line.

6) If you wish to drop off your completed application rather than emailing, please bring ut to 615 Bess Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 and give it to the Wilmington Police Dept. front desk.
